Affiliate Membership

Everything you need to know about joining the Sikh Shooting Association

What is Affiliate Membership?

Becoming an affiliate member for £5 a month gains you access to exclusive events and you become part of a growing community of people from all backgrounds coming together through shooting sports.

Membership is open to anyone aged 18 and over. You do not need any prior experience, a firearms licence, or any equipment to join. We welcome complete beginners and experienced shooters alike.

What You Get Access To

Your £5 monthly membership gives you access to exclusive member events across our core disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • Archery

  • Air rifle

  • Clay shooting

  • First aid training

Events range from beginner and introductory sessions through to advanced and competition-level training. Some events are discipline-specific, some are mixed. Members may also have opportunities to attend SSA instructor training and receive guidance on suitable training courses delivered by external providers. Everything is clearly listed per event so you always know what you're signing up for.

Event fees are separate from the monthly membership and vary depending on the activity. Most events are priced at around £20, while specialist or advanced sessions, including those delivered by external providers, long range shooting, or international level training, may cost £200 or more. The applicable fee will always be clearly stated before booking.

How Events Work

We aim to run a minimum of one event per month. Events are held at local ranges, community centres, and venues within our partner network across West London and South England.

You do not have to attend every event. The more you attend, the more you will develop and the more connected you will be with the SSA team, but there is no attendance requirement.

Upcoming events will usually be planned and shared several weeks in advance to help members prepare. Places may be limited and cannot be reserved. Most events will therefore be allocated on a first come, first served basis, subject to any relevant eligibility requirements.

Under-18s and family events: Membership is for adults aged 18 and over. However, certain events are family-friendly and allow members to bring under-18s at an additional ticket cost. These events are clearly labelled.

All under 18s must be accompanied by a registered adult member aged 18 or over and remain under that member’s supervision and responsibility throughout the event. Minimum participation ages may apply to some activities, including family events, for health and safety, insurance, or regulatory reasons. Any age restrictions will be clearly stated within the event details.

Guests: Guests are not permitted at standard events. Limited guest days will be available on occasion and will be clearly advertised. All guests must book in advance, with booking instructions provided as part of the event details.

Everything is in person. We do not currently offer online or remote content.

How to Apply

Applications open on Saturday 1st August 2026. You will receive a link by email on that date.

The application form is thorough. As SSA operates in a similar way to a shooting club, we follow relevant Home Office guidelines. This requires us to maintain appropriate membership records and, where required, share information with the police or Home Office. We ask for:

  • Full personal details

  • Proof of ID (passport or driving licence)

  • Your reasons for joining

  • Any existing experience or licences you hold

  • Any relevant criminal history

  • Answers to standard Section 21 firearms questions

A code of conduct will be shared as part of the application. By applying, you agree to its terms.

We aim to have all applications reviewed and processed by 14th August 2026. You will receive an email confirming approval or, if unsuccessful, an explanation. We will always speak to applicants directly before a rejection is confirmed. We welcome all applicants regardless of background and assess each application individually.

Once approved, you will be invited to set up your monthly membership payment and gain full access.

Training & Certifications

We offer a structured training and certification programme across all disciplines. Training is separate from your monthly membership and is available as specific courses and sessions.

Our programme covers safety, competency, and competition-level training, with a clear progression pathway from beginner through to advanced and instructor level.

We work with various national governing bodies to deliver qualifications. As members progress, there is also a pathway to becoming a qualified SSA instructor and delivering events as part of our team.
